Helping Hands

At Eagle Community Credit Union, we are deeply committed to making a positive impact in the communities we serve. Through our internal Helping Hands program, our team members volunteer their time at various events each quarter. We also encourage our employees to support causes close to their hearts, offering two Volunteer Time Off days each year. Here are some of the organizations and events we've proudly supported over the years.

ABC7 14th Annual Feed SoCal Food Drive

Eagle Community Credit Union is proud to partner with ABC7 Los Angeles, Stater Bros. Markets, Subaru, and regional food banks for the 14th Annual Feed SoCal Food Drive—a vital initiative aimed at combating hunger across Southern California.

Hunger remains a pressing issue in the United States. According to the USDA, 13.5% of U.S. households—approximately 18 million—experienced food insecurity in 2023. Among households with children, 17.9% faced food insecurity, meaning millions of children lacked consistent access to nutritious meals. Feeding America’s latest report also highlights that 1 in 5 children in the U.S. lives in a food-insecure household.

Through June 18, you can help make a difference by donating non-perishable food items at any Eagle Community Credit Union branch. All donations will go directly to local food banks to support families in need.

Together, we can help stock the shelves, support our neighbors, and work toward a hunger-free community.

2025 ABC7 Interview

We’re proud to share that our CEO recently appeared on ABC7 Los Angeles alongside Stephanie Cuevas of the California Credit Union League to address a critical issue with far-reaching national implications: the potential removal of the federal tax exemption for credit unions.

While the proposal may appear to be a revenue-generating measure, the economic data tells a different story. A recent study highlighted during the segment projects that eliminating the credit union tax exemption would have significant negative consequences over the next decade, including:

  • $13.8 billion in annual lost personal income for consumers
  • $26.6 billion annual decline in GDP
  • 82,000 jobs lost each year
  • $3.3 billion in lost federal income tax revenue annually—surpassing the estimated $2.8 billion in revenue the government would gain by taxing credit unions

The conclusion is clear: removing the tax-exempt status of credit unions would result in a net economic loss—impacting consumers, communities, and the broader economy.

Credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives that return value directly to their members and reinvest in the communities they serve. Stripping away their tax exemption would undermine financial inclusion, increase costs for everyday Americans, and hinder economic progress.

We encourage you to learn more about this issue and make your voice heard. Visit this link (DontTaxMyCreditUnion.org) to explore the data and contact your Congressional representatives to express your support for preserving the credit union tax exemption. https://www.DontTaxMyCreditUnion.org/

Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive

Eagle has been a proud supporter of the National Association of Letter Carrier's Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive since its inception. This nationwide event, held on the second Saturday of May, is the largest single-day food drive in the country. In 2007, Eagle began sponsoring the bags used to collect food donations, and our team members volunteer to help letter carriers collect, sort, and distribute the food to local food banks. Check out photos from past food drives on our Facebook page.
